The skills we need most while the foundation is being built.

Help build this

Mary Astronomy Foundation is at the stage where a handful of people can shape what it becomes. If you have time and one of the skills below, we would like to hear from you.

What we need

  • Site hosts. Somewhere dark, dry and secure, with mains power and a working internet connection, and someone nearby who can set a telescope out at dusk and bring it in at dawn.
  • Educators. People who teach astronomy and can tell us what would actually be useful in a classroom, and what would just be a distraction.
  • Astrophotographers. People who can judge whether our capture settings are producing usable data, and say so bluntly when they are not.
  • Engineers. Python and TypeScript, embedded Linux, and anyone who has run hardware unattended overnight and knows what goes wrong.
  • Translators and writers. Clear explanations of hard things, for readers who are new to all of it.

How to offer

Use the form on this page or write to info@maryastronomy.com. Tell us what you would like to do and roughly how much time you have. We will be honest with you about whether we are ready for that help yet.
